World Junior Nordic Skiing Champion
In a sport dominated by the likes of Norway, Sweden, Russia and Germany, this incredibly humble “guy next door” from Anchorage Alaska won the U23 World Junior Championships in Germany in 2020. This was the first time in history that an American has won the World Juniors. Not one to shy away from a challenge, Gus has now moved up into the senior ranks a couple years early. In his first season competing as a senior, Gus cemented his place as a global contender with an 18th place finish at the Tour de Ski. Gus has achieved all of this before his 22nd birthday. When he is not racing on the World Cup, Gus likes to spend time back home in Alaska with his friends and family. He is working toward his Civil Engineering degree at the University of Alaska at Anchorage.
